The Millar Angus cowherd is backed by over 30 years of breeding. It stems from the registered Angus herd started by Jon's parents, Ellis and Pat Millar in 1975. At the age of 12, Jon purchased his first registered Black Angus cow. It was at this moment that he set a goal to someday host his own production sale.
On February 26, 2002 that dream became a reality when at the age of 24 Jon and his fiance, Breezy Sigman, sold 16 bulls to a crowd of buyers at Philip Livestock Auction, Philip, SD. The Millar Angus herd continues to expand a little more each year with their annual production sale, held the last Tuesday in February at Philip Livestock, being one of their biggest highlights.
Today the Millar Angus herd can be found 10 miles southeast of Newell, SD. It is here you will find Jon, his wife Breezy, son Ryle and daughter Kobi handling the day-to-day operations of the ranch. You are always welcome to stop by to view the bulls or cow herd at anytime, we love to talk cattle! We appreciate all of our past customers and those who have shown an interest in our program. Here at Millar Angus, we may not be the biggest, but we're striving to be one of the best!
